With “Star Trek: Picard,” Patrick Stewart celebrated his return as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. Next year, the series will enter its final round with Star Trek Picard Season 3, but one important question, if not the most important, has not yet been answered: When did Picard actually lose his main hair?

A hairy matter, because even in “Starship Enterprise – The Next Hair Hundred” the question has not yet been answered. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” already proved that the “Star Trek” universe is all about hairstyles, when Pike took the fans’ hearts by storm with his great quiff.

With Picard, however, this was quite different in the 80s. “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry didn’t want a bald Starfleet captain and intervened. In the 24th century, there would be no more hair loss. Eventually, however, he was convinced: In the 24th century, no one would care anymore whether hair fell out or not.

But when did Picard’s hair loss begin? While Patrick Stewart rocked a bald head very early on, there are flashbacks/memories in “The Next Century” where Picard has hair, suggesting that the captain lost his main hair about 10 years before “The Next Century.”

However, in the movie “Star Trek: Nemesis” Picard meets a young clone of him, portrayed by a young Tom Hardy. This one is already bald in his 20s. Since the clone is genetically identical to our Picard, this actually suggests that Picard has been bald basically his entire adult life.

What is correct here is unclear. Did Picard possibly wear a toupee from time to time, which would explain the flashbacks. Did the clone simply cut off his hair faster than the “real” Picard? Or does the answer lie somewhere in between? We don’t know!

Start date of Star Trek Picard Season 3

“Star Trek: Picard” Season 3 will launch in the U.S. on February 16, 2023 on Paramount+. One day later, on February 17, 2023, the first episode of season 3 will be available to you on Amazon Prime Video. The 10 episodes will be released weekly, so the finale will be available here on April 21.

Star Trek Picard Season 3: Trailer

A proper trailer for “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 has not been released yet, but a small teaser has been released, announcing that almost the entire crew from “Star Trek – The Next Century” will return in “Star Trek: Picard” season 3.

Cast of Star Trek Picard Season 3

In “Star Trek: Picard” Season 3, Patrick Stewart returns as Jean-Luc Picard, of course. To the delight of many fans, almost the entire crew from “Starship Enterprise – The Next Century” returns. This includes the following actors and actresses:

  • Jonathan Frakes as William Riker
  • Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi
  • Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher
  • LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge
  • Michael Dorn as Worf
  • Brent Spiner as Data / Dr. Altan Inigo Soong / Adam Soong

Also we will probably see Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine and Michelle Hurd as Raffi again. Whether Evan Evagora as Elnor and Isa Briones as Kore / Soji will return is still unclear.

In any case, Alison Pill and Santiago Cabrera will not be back as Jurati and Rios in “Star Trek: Picard” Season 3. John de Lancie as Q will also not return in the new season.

Production: Is it over after Star Trek Picard Season 3?

For Patrick Stewart, the “Star Trek” part of his life now seems to be finally over. The shooting of “Star Trek: Picard” season 3 is finished and according to his own statements, the 3rd season is already the end of the series.

It is quite possible that the series was intended from the beginning as a short Picard return, but fans would certainly be happy about another reunion with Patrick Stewart. Maybe there is still a place for him in the promising “Star Trek” future!
