“Scream 6″ has not yet opened in theaters, and already “Scream 7” is said to be in the works.
With the sixth part of the “Scream” series, fans can look forward to an extremely bloody horror film. For the first time since “Scream 2” in 1997, a part of the slasher series has been given an FSK 18 rating. Another novelty of “Scream 6” is the setting. In contrast to the predecessors, we are now in the big city, more precisely in New York. At the same time, fans can look forward to the return of Courteney Cox as Gale and Hayden Panettiere as Kirby.
Although the film has not yet been released, “Scream 7” is probably already confirmed. This was reported by the website ScreenGeek, which refers to various sources. Accordingly, Paramount Pictures officially gave the next part of the horror series the green light. In addition, filming for Part 7 is supposed to start this year, so we can already expect a theatrical release next year. Even though no details about the story of “Scream 7” are known yet, fans can look forward to another Ghostface killer.
What you can expect in part 6, you can see in the trailer:
Are the directors of “Scream 5” and “Scream 6” returning?
The two directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have been working together for some time under the name Radio Silence and were responsible for “Scream 5”, which you can stream on Amazon, and now also for “Scream 6”. During the premiere for part 6, the two were asked by Deadline if “Scream 7” is coming and if they are involved again:
“We hope so. We want to watch ‘Scream’ movies for the rest of our lives, whether we’re involved or not.”
However, if it were up to them, they would continue the horror franchise. All that remains now is to wait for “Scream 7” to be officially announced. If a sequel to the “Scream” series is in the works before the release of part 6, it would prove Paramount’s confidence in the latest film. The first voices are already praising the horror film, which will be released in cinemas here on March 9, 2023.
