The fantasy bestseller series “The Wheel of Time” by Robert Jordan found a new home last year – in the form of a lavishly produced series on Amazon Prime Video. The first season was given a total of eight episodes and was the most-streamed series worldwide at the time of release, according to Amazon.
Even if opinions on the adaptation differ, the success proves the streaming provider right. But what about the release of The Wheel of Time Season 2? What information is already available about the cast and the plot? We’ve collected everything you need to know about the new episodes of “The Wheel of Time” and linked the most important trailers.
What is “The Wheel of Time” about?
Spoiler Alert: Spoilers about the plot of “The Wheel of Time” follow.
The fantasy epic “The Wheel of Time” is about a world where women control the power of magic. These mages, called “Aes Sedai“, serve the good of all as healers and bringers of peace and wisdom.
Since all men gifted with magic have fallen prey to madness in the past, the Aes Sedai, as the sole guardians of this gift, must exercise special caution. However, when the young mage Moiraine embarks on a dangerous journey, she discovers a man who is the reincarnation of the particularly magically gifted “dragon“.
In the first season, the main question is whether the “dragon” means danger or salvation for the world, which the “Dark King” threatens. Even if it seems that Rand al’Thor has defeated him in the end, Moiraine finds hints that the disaster is not over yet.

The Wheel of Time Season 2: What will happen in the second season?
Also, in the second season, Moiraine and her companions have to face the dark threat. And this is despite the fact that the mage has lost her connection to the “One Power“. So her storyline in The Wheel of Time season 2 will mainly revolve around regaining her abilities.
Meanwhile, a new threat is already brewing: At the end of the first season, a threatening fleet is heading towards Falme. On board are the Seanchan and their enslaved mages, the Damane, with whose help the newcomers want to conquer the peninsula.
In addition, The Wheel of Time season 2 begins the search for the “Horn of Valere“, which will play a special role in the prophesied “Last Battle”. The reborn “Dragon” must face his destiny and his role in this prophecy.
The events of the second book of the “Wheel of Time” series are thus taken up in the second season, but not necessarily chronologically or absolutely true to the book (similar to season 1).
The Wheel of Time Season 2 Release Date: When will be released?
Officially, there is no announcement about the second season of “The Wheel of Time” yet. However, new episodes of the series are expected to appear as early as 2022.
It has been made no secret from the beginning that it will in no way remain with only one season. On Twitter, for example, people wrote that season 1 alone would never be enough.
According to rumors, Amazon has even already pre-produced 24 episodes of the series. In addition, filming for the second season is to be completed as early as February of this year. After that, the promo phase of the new episodes will begin.
So it’s only a matter of time before Amazon officially announces the second season’s release. The only clear thing is that the date will probably not be September when the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is already being released on Amazon Prime.
