Shortly before The Walking Dead Season 11 finale, the survivors have to experience for themselves that a small deed can have serious consequences.
Lydia (Cassady McClincy) drops a knife, the Commonwealth underestimates the biters and Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) misses her target – three fatal mistakes in the upcoming episode “Family” provide shock moments shortly before the big series finale of “The Walking Dead”. See what you have to be prepared for in the trailer:
The Walking Dead Season 11: Lydia is bitten – can Aaron and Jerry save her?
After Luke (Dan Fogler) and Jules (Alex Sgambati) have waited for Jerry (Cooper Andrews), Aaron (Ross Marquand), Elijah (Okea Eme-Aktwari) and Lydia on their way to Oceanside, they decide to travel hidden with a horde of biters to escape the army of the Commonwealth unnoticed. What they didn’t suspect yet: The Commonwealth is running the undead in a controlled manner. To make matters worse, in the dark of night, Lydia loses her knife, which is picked up by a “Clever One” – a new, evolved Biter variant.
As the group tries to separate from the horde, the Commonwealth brings together more groups of zombies. An unnoticed escape becomes an almost impossible task for Aaron and co. So it comes to a great misfortune, in which not only Elijah is separated from Jerry, Aaron and Lydia; also Lydia is bitten by an undead in the arm – because without a knife she can not finish the biter in time. Although Jerry and Aaron react quickly and save themselves with Lydia in a trailer; she, however, can accept the separation from Elijah only with difficulty.
As another clip shows, the situation becomes far worse when she realizes she can only survive if the spread of the bite infection in her body is stopped immediately. To do this, Aaron and Jerry have to chop off her arm. Aaron, who already had to go through this procedure in season 9, does his best to encourage the young woman. Whether Lydia will survive the painful procedure and the subsequent blood loss, we will hopefully find out in the big finale on November 21.
The Walking Dead Season 11: Will Judith have to pay for this decision with her life?
Meanwhile, Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Carol (Melissa McBride), Daryl (Norman Reedus) and other survivors sneak into the Commonwealth to put an end to Pamela Milton and the oppression in the Commonwealth once and for all. Judith (Cailey Fleming) insists on accompanying the group on this maneuver, as this video shows.
But Pamela has long since seen through the planned assassination, as Mercer (Michael James Shaw) previously pulled his troops from a tunnel, setting off alarm bells for the governor. She uses her opportunity to lure the group into a trap: they lock the main hall and open fire on Daryl and Co. When Milton himself takes aim at Maggie, Judith doesn’t hesitate for long and pushes her leader out of the way – but catches the bullet herself in the process.
Clearly horrified by her miss, Pamela recoils. Did she actually kill a child? The group takes advantage of the brief lull in the fire to retreat, but shortly thereafter finds itself in a dead end from which there seems to be no escape. Surrounded by biters, only Daryl, who holds Judith in his arms, can save himself in a narrow passageway and thus save the wounded girl from certain death.
The Walking Dead Season 11: Biters storm the Commonwealth
The Biter masses aren’t just a problem for Daryl, Maggie and company, though; the Commonwealth is also overrun by the very horde they thought they had under control before. Mercer sums up the reason for this in this scene: the Commonwealth underestimates the danger of the undead. The community doesn’t count on the abilities of the new biting variety and so the zombies climb the walls of the Commonwealth. The fastest of the so-called “clever” biters makes its way unnoticed to the security guard, attacks him and brings him down, whereby he accidentally opens the floodgate and all biters flood the Commonwealth unhindered.
Whether the Commonwealth can avert the danger, whether Judith survives the gunfight, and whether Lydia and Elijah ever reunite will certainly not be withheld from us in the big “TWD” finale. But before that, you can look forward to the 23rd episode, which proves that small mishaps can end in chaos and disaster. You can watch the shocking moments on Monday, November 14, 2022, in the stream on Disney+.
