Oh boy! The finale of “The Rings of Power” was eagerly awaited. For an entire season, we puzzled and speculated: Who is Sauron? Halbrand, the stranger? The last episode of the season has finally revealed his identity. You can find all the answers to your questions here!
Galadriel was deceived
Galadriel’s hopes that the mysterious Halbrand is of royal descent and could help humans fight evil were buried with today’s release of the season finale.
His keen interest in Celebrimbor’s forging and his wide eyes when the elven blacksmith speaks of power over the physical and an unseen world makes Galadriel sit up and take notice.
As she slowly begins to question Halbrand’s motivation, she checks his apparent pedigree as king of the Southlands and finds that this bloodline has been extinct for a long time.
Why did Sauron save Galadriel?
Saving Galadriel was Halbrand’s ticket to enter the Elven realm and make contact with the Elven blacksmith Celebrimbor to help him craft The Rings of Power.
He may also have planned his serious injury to further influence Galadriel.
From the well-known story of Lord of the Rings, we already know that Sauron can disguise himself in other bodies to achieve his goals. Like, for example, as Annatar, who subdues the kings of men with his deceitful gifts and leads them to ruin.
We see a preview of his dark future when, at the end of the episode, Galadriel and Halbrand part ways and he faces Mount Doom in Mordor, the center of his future power.
We can be curious about the The Rings of Power 2nd season, about the corruption by the rings of power and Halbrand’s further development into a dark ruler. What did you think of the season finale? Did you anticipate Halbrand’s revelation?
