Before The Batman 2 with Robert Pattinson hits theaters, we find out how the story of villain Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot continues. Here is the first teaser for the DC series The Penguin.
The Batman has established a new DC universe. Not only is a sequel to the DC hit starring Robert Pattinson currently in the works. At least one series also awaits us from the gloomy Gotham that we first saw on the big screen last year. It’s titled The Penguin.
The Penguin is being developed exclusively for the streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max). Colin Farrell returns as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot after his appearance in The Batman and seizes control of Gotham. What that looks like is revealed in the first teaser released to coincide with the recent production launch.
The Penguin Trailer: The Batman sequel as a series
The story of The Penguin is set to take place a week after the events of The Batman. Farrell’s villain seizes control of Gotham’s underworld and makes new enemies in the process. Among them is Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), the daughter of gangster boss Carmine Falcone (John Turturro).
It can be assumed that the plot told in the series will be relevant to The Batman 2, which will be released in cinemas on October 2025. Season 1 comprises a total of eight episodes. The opener is directed by Craig Zobel, who was already involved in the outstanding HBO series Mare of Easttown.
The Penguin Release Date: When does The Batman spin-off The Penguin start?
The specific release date for The Penguin has not yet been set. Filming has been underway since early March and is expected to stretch through July 2023. After that, the project will go into post-production, which means that a series release before the end of the year is not to be expected. The teaser itself points to 2024.
