Announced in February 2020, The God of High School anime adaptation aired from July 2020 to September 2020. Three years have passed, and the fans are still waiting for The God of High School Season 2. What should we expect from the second season of The God of High School anime?
About The God of High School
The God of High School is a webtoon by Park Yongje, released in April 2011. The manhwa tells the story of a teenage martial artist from Seoul, South Korea, Jin Mori, who competes in “The God of High School” (GOH), a martial arts tournament with the ultimate prize of absolute fulfillment of any wishes. Mori meets a Karateka Han Daewi and epeeist expert Yoo Mira. With the Charyeok or Borrowed Power (power endowed by supernatural entities, such as gods, demons, and other mythical creatures), Mori and his friends battled through the competitors of the GOH tournament.
In 2014, The God of High School became one of the first webtoons to be released in English on LINE Webtoon. The manhwa is published by Imageframe and has reached its third volume by February 2021. A spinoff light novel, The God of High School: Eclipse, is written by Bloody and illustrated by Yongje Park which spanned from April 2015 to July 2016. The manhwa reached its conclusion in December 2022, ending its more than 11-year run.
The God of High School Season 2 Confirmed?

In February 2020, Crunchyroll announced The God of High School anime adaptation with Studio MAPPA (Yuri!! on Ice, Kakegurui, Dororo, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: Final Season, Chainsaw Man). Park Sunghoo (Garo: Vanishing Line, Jujutsu Kaisen) directs the anime with Kiyoko Yoshimura (Dororo, Idaten Jump) as its script writer and Manabu Akita (Kakegurui) as character designer. Here are the leading voTatsumaru Tachibana (Welcome to Demon Scholl!! Iruma-kun, The Fruit of Evolution, Blue Period) takes the roll as Jin Mori, Kentaro Kumagai (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Tsurezure Children, Noblesse) as Han Daewi, and Ayaka Ohashi (Aikatsu!, Akame Ga Kill!!, Masamune-kun’s Revenge, Princess Connect! Re:Dive) as Yoo Mira.
The anime aired from 6 July to 28 September 2020. The anime received three nominations in the 5th Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2021, with two fight scenes of the anime nominated for “Best Fight Scene” category and the others being “Best Animation” and “Best Score” categories.
Crunchyroll has not given any statement nor announcement about the second season of The God of High School, and the anime’s official Twitter and Facebook account has been inactive since March 2021. However, based on the reception and nominations it received, the anime might be greenlit to go for the second season.
The God of High School Season 2 Release Date: Speculation!
Crunchyroll remains clammed up about the continuation of The God of High School. Nevertheless, the hype remains as GOH’s fans bring it up to the social media, demanding Crunchyroll to proceed with Mori and friends’ divine battles.
The God of High School became the second manhwa receiving anime adaptation, the first being Tower of God. In August 2022, Crunchyroll announced that Tower of God would continue to season 2 along with the release of its key visual. However, there has been no confirmation regarding the streaming date. The prediction ran from Winter or Spring 2023 to 2024.
Unfortunately, this might be the case with The God of High School. While the thirteenth episode teases what would be the continuation of the anime, there has been no words about the making of the second season. Based on a rumor circulating on Weibo, Park Sunghoo and some of the team members already left MAPPA to form its own studio, E&H Production, while MAPPA has already too much on its plate with several projects, from Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 3, Vinland Saga Season 2, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, to Yuri!!! on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence.
It is evident that the first season of The God of High School received poor reception as well, as Crunchyroll is known for its lackluster animation style and poor direction. Therefore, many demanded other studios to take the project which means the second season might not happen in the near future.
Story for the Second Season (SPOILER ALERT)
The first season of The God of High School covered the first 112 chapters of the manhwa. In the end of the first season, the thirteenth episode covers the National Competition Arc. Should the anime remain truthful to the manhwa, the second season will revolve around the Jin Taejin Arc.
According to the flashback, the adoptive grandfather of Jin Mori, Jin Taejin, is dispatched to North Korea due to a mysterious, enormous energy emanating from there (assumed to be nuclear threat). The arc will also tell the origin story of Jin Mori as Taejin will receive an infant Jin Mori trapped in a crystal. It is rumored that Park Mubong and the mythical creatures will make an appearance as the survival of Mori and his friends are getting more intense.
