“The Flash” brings mighty chaos to the DC universe in June 2023 and meets (at least) two Batmen. Now director Andy Muschietti revealed the craziest cameo appearance of the film.
- Michael Keaton’s return as Batman in “The Flash” is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of star power.
- The new DC event promises numerous cameo appearances and surprising twists.
- Now a guest appearance has already been revealed by the film’s director and has Superman fans cheering.
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” have already shown how much fun stories about the multiverse can be and how many possibilities they bring. Anything can happen when different universes collide, much to the delight of the audience.
Now the DC universe is moving into similar territory with “The Flash.” Due to an unsuccessful time travel, Flash lands in an alternative reality in which there are no more superheroes – with the exception of Batman, who here, as in Tim Burton’s films from the nineties, is embodied by Michael Keaton.
It is already known that there will be other guest appearances by famous stars and famous DC heroes. But so far, most of the secrets have been kept, although “The Flash” has already been shown at CinemaCon and at some fan screenings.
So it comes as a surprise that Andy Muschietti, of all people, the director of the film, revealed the craziest cameo appearance of the film in an interview with Esquire Middle East: Superman will be played by Nicolas Cage in “The Flash”!
The Flash: Superman Lives!
With Cage’s appearance, Andy Muschietti is not only fulfilling a personal dream, as he has always wanted to work with the cult actor, he is also finally giving Superman fans the appearance they were promised in 1998.
Under the title “Superman Lives”, a new Superman movie was to be made by Tim Burton in 1998, the script was by “Clerks” director Kevin Smith and Nicolas Cage was to take the lead role. There are even shots of Cage in costume:
A few weeks before shooting began, the project was scrapped. While Cage may not be the most obvious choice for the role at first glance, Burton was convinced of his qualities as Superman, wanting to give the Man of Steel more depth. You can learn more about the Superman movie that never happened in the documentary “The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened?”, which is available in full on YouTube.
As a huge Superman fan, the cameo appearance in “The Flash” was of course a gift for Nicolas Cage, who Muschietti says gave his all in his big scene. Starting June 15, 2023, you can finally experience “The Flash,” Nicolas Cage and various other guest appearances in theaters.
