The Continental: Series reveals the origins of Winston and the legendary killer hotel from "John Wick"

US streaming provider Peacock is currently working on a prequel series for the “John Wick” film series. This is entitled “The Continental” and the content will revolve around the creation of the special killer hotels.

Producer Erica Lee now commented to Screen Rant on the characters of the series and shows you what you can expect from the spin-off.

The Continental Hotels play a leading role in all of the “John Wick” films, including “John Wick: Chapter 4,” which recently hit theaters. “The Continental” puts the hotel chain, famous among hit men, in the spotlight and shows its beginnings in the 1970s. Back then, founder Winston Scott, who is played by Colin Woodell (“The Originals”) in the series, was still young and launched the hotels together with allies.

The series shows how he became the manager of the New York Continental and took his company to the global market. Additionally, some “John Wick” secrets will be revealed in the prequel. Lee said of the series that the cool thing about it is that it takes place in a different timeline. In the movies, we only get brief glimpses of life in the Continental hotels and Winston’s backstory. That should change now.

The series will answer questions about how Winston made it to the top, how the gold coins are made and the inner workings of the hotel. Lee also said she enjoyed working on the story and believes viewers will love the series.

The Continentals represent a safe haven for any hitmen looking to take shelter in a metropolis. The Osaka and Casablanca hotels have been seen in parts 3 and 4 of the “John Wick” series, but it was the New York Continental that was the focus of all four films and featured John Wick’s allies Winston Scott (Ian McShane) and Charon (Lance Reddick) as the hotel’s manager and concierge.

In the Continentals, there are a few rules to follow. One of the most important of them is that no one is allowed to do a job at the Continental, which means no contract killings on the hotel’s property. In “John Wick” chapters 2 and 3, the repercussions of breaking this rule are shown.

When John killed Santino at the Continental Hotel in Part 1, he became birdless to the other hit men. These were out for the reward on his head and hunted him all over the country. The fact that John committed the illegal murder at all was connected to the death of his dog and that of his wife Helen.

The prequel series “The Continental” will likely launch on Amazon Prime Video in September 2023. It is expected to consist of three 90-minute episodes. It will certainly be exciting to learn more about Winston’s beginnings as a hotel manager and about his relationship with his concierge Charon (Ayomide Adegun) and why he was held in such high regard by Winston.

Until the start of the series, the new releases on Amazon Prime Video provide more streaming tips. We also reveal which titles Amazon Prime Video will be deleting in the near future.
