An exact launch date for the next big “Star Wars” series “Ahsoka” is not yet known. Actress Rosario Dawson has now given a hint as to when we can expect “The Mandalorian” spin-off.
- “Ahsoka” will finally be a standalone series in 2023 about Jedi Ahsoka Tano, who we’ve already seen in “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”

After the success of “The Mandalorian,” Lucasfilm has ordered several new “Star Wars” live-action series. Since Ahsoka Tano has already appeared in several episodes of different “Star Wars” series, it was only a matter of time before she gets her own series. It is rumored that Grand Admiral Thrawn will play the lead antagonist role.
Rosario Dawson will play Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan in the live-action series Ahsoka . With no exact start date yet, other than sometime in 2023, a new clue to the release date is hugely valuable.
Starting in the fall, we can expect to see Season 1 of “Ahsoka”
In the American news program “NBC News’ Today Show,” Rosario Dawson talked about her big role, her appearance in the “Star Wars” world and also about the possible release of “Ahsoka.” Although she didn’t go into detail, very professionally, she clearly narrowed down the release date.
Since filming on “Ahsoka” ended in October 2022 and it will take about a year to complete post-production, “Ahsoka” should be released sometime in the fall of 2023, Dawson said. A plausible release date for Disney and Lucasfilm and one that fits the other production schedule.
A worthy spin-off after the Boba Fett disappointment?
After the huge success of “The Mandalorian,” Disney’s “Mandoverse” grew a bit too fast. The gap-filler season “The Book of Boba Fett” met with little enthusiasm from fans and critics, despite appearances by Din Djarin, Luke and Ahsoka.
“Ahsoka” is now expected to do better and function independently. It is to focus entirely on the Jedi Ahsoka Tano and her mission to find Grand Admiral Thrawn, and also bring series newcomers closer to the complicated past of the Jedi survivors.
In addition, we could finally see live-action versions of the characters from the animated series “Star Wars Rebels” with whom Ahsoka has a special relationship. It will be exciting to see how she develops more and more from the lone wolf she was by force after the collapse of the Jedi Order to a firm member of the galactic resistance.
The man behind the “Star Wars” series and Ahsoka, Dave Filoni, also spoke about plot details some time ago. Fans could expect more details about the release date or even a first trailer at this year’s Star Wars Celebration 2023. The event has always been a great platform to announce news about existing projects and introduce new movies and series.
