Radiant, the anime adaptation of the French comic by Tony Valente, you might be wondering when the third season will grace your screens with its radiant presence. After all, it’s been almost four years since the second season ended with a cliffhanger that left us hanging on the edge of our seats. Well, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with everything we know so far about Radiant Season 3. And by everything, we mean everything. Trust us, we’re experts.

Radiant Season 3 Plot: What’s next?

Radiant Season 3 Plot
Funimation

The plot of Radiant Season 3 is a mystery wrapped in an enigma coated in a riddle. Why? Because the anime has caught up with the manga, which is still ongoing and has not finished the next story arc yet. That means the anime producers have three options:

  • Wait for the manga to finish the arc and adapt it faithfully
  • Use the little material that has been released since October 2019 and fill the rest with filler episodes
  • Go rogue and create an original story that deviates from the manga

Which option will they choose? We don’t know. They don’t know. Nobody knows. But we can make some educated guesses based on what happened in Season 2 and what might happen in Season 3.

In Season 2, we saw Seth and his friends travel to Caislean Merlin, the headquarters of the Sorcerer Knights, where they met Ocoho, a young knight who joined their team. They also learned more about the mysterious Radiant, the origin of the Nemeses, and the secrets of Seth’s horns. They also faced off against various enemies, such as Dragunov, Grimm, and Hameline.

In Season 3, we can expect Seth and his friends to continue their quest to find Radiant and stop the Nemeses from falling from the sky. They will also have to deal with the rising tension between Sorcerers and humans, as well as the sinister plans of the Inquisition and its leader, Lord Brangoire. Along the way, they will encounter new allies and foes, such as Liselotte, a former friend of Ocoho who betrayed her; Myr, a mysterious girl who can control Nemeses; and Piodon, Seth’s brother who has a hidden agenda.

Radiant Season 3 Characters and Cast: Who’s in it?

Radiant Season 3 Characters
Funimation

The cast of Radiant Season 3 will likely consist of the same voice actors who voiced the characters in Season 2, unless they decide to pull a Game of Thrones and recast everyone for no reason. Here are some of the main characters and their voice actors:

  • Seth: Yumiri Hanamori (Japanese), Christopher Llewyn Ramirez (English)
  • Melie: Aoi Yuki (Japanese), Monica Rial (English)
  • Doc: Shintaro Oohata (Japanese), Michael Sinterniklaas (English)
  • Ocoho: Kana Hanazawa (Japanese), Jill Harris (English)
  • Dragunov: Makoto Koichi (Japanese), Ian Sinclair (English)
  • Grimm: Takehito Koyasu (Japanese), Ricco Fajardo (English)
  • Alma: Romi Park (Japanese), Caitlin Glass (English)
  • Piodon: Daisuke Namikawa (Japanese), Aaron Dismuke (English)

Some of the new characters that might appear in Season 3 and their possible voice actors are:

  • Liselotte: Ayane Sakura (Japanese), Sarah Wiedenheft (English)
  • Myr: Rie Takahashi (Japanese), Mikaela Krantz (English)
  • Lord Brangoire: Hiroshi Iwasaki (Japanese), Mark Stoddard (English)

Will there be Radiant Season 3?

The short answer is: maybe. The long answer is: maybe, but not anytime soon. The reason is simple: there is not enough source material to make a third season yet. The anime has adapted 13 volumes of the manga so far, and there are only 15 volumes available as of July 2021. The manga is still ongoing, but it is released at a slow pace, with only one volume per year. That means it will take at least two more years for enough material to be available for a third season.

Of course, there is always the possibility that the anime will go ahead and create an original story that diverges from the manga, or use some filler episodes to stretch out the existing material. But that would be a risky move, as it might alienate the fans of the manga and ruin the continuity of the story. Besides, the anime studio Lerche has not announced anything about the renewal or cancellation of the series yet, so we don’t even know if they are interested in making a third season at all.

So, for now, the best we can do is wait and hope that Radiant Season 3 will eventually happen. And while we wait, we can always rewatch the first two seasons, read the manga, or check out some similar shows like Black Clover, Fairy Tail, or Magi.

Radiant Season 3 Release Date: Speculation!

Radiant Season 3 Release Date
Funimation

Since there is no official announcement about Radiant Season 3 yet, we can only speculate about when it might come out. Based on the release dates of the previous seasons, we can make some assumptions. The first season of Radiant premiered in October 2018 and ended in February 2019. The second season premiered in October 2019 and ended in February 2020. That means there was a gap of eight months between the two seasons.

Because of the lack of source material and the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the anime industry. So, let’s assume that there will be a longer gap, say, three or four years. That would mean that Radiant Season 3 could premiere in 2024.

But that is still a very optimistic scenario, as it assumes that the manga will finish the next story arc by then and that the anime studio will start working on the adaptation as soon as possible. A more realistic scenario would be that Radiant Season 3 will premiere in 2024 or in 2025. That would give enough time for the manga to finish at least two more volumes and for the anime studio to produce a quality adaptation.

Of course, these are all just guesses, and nothing is certain until we hear some official news from Lerche or Tony Valente. So, take these dates with a grain of salt and don’t get your hopes up too high.

Radiant Season 3 Trailer: Is there a teaser?

Unfortunately, there is no trailer or teaser for Radiant Season 3 yet, as the anime has not been confirmed or announced yet. The only thing we have is a short video message from Tony Valente that was released after the end of Season 2, where he thanked the fans for their support and expressed his hope for a third season.

In the video, Valente says: “I hope you enjoyed this second season of Radiant. I’m very happy with how it turned out and I hope you are too. I want to thank you all for your support and enthusiasm. It means a lot to me and to everyone who worked on this project. I hope we can continue this adventure together with a third season. Until then, stay tuned and keep being awesome!”

So, at least we know that the creator of Radiant is on board with a third season and that he appreciates the fans. Maybe his words will reach Lerche and convince them to renew the series. Or maybe not. We’ll just have to wait and see.
