Arriving in the 18th century, she must build a new life for herself. This leap through time changes Claire’s subsequent life in significant ways. In the past, she finds her future.

| 1756 | The prison is closed and the prisoners are shipped to the United States. As serfs, they are supposed to serve the rest of their sentence in the colony. |

| 1758 | On January 9, Jamie’s son is born as: William “Willie” Clarence Henry George Ransom, the ninth Earl of Ellesmere. |

| 1765 | Jamie marries Laoghaire. Since the marriage is not happy, he leaves his home and builds a new life for himself in Edinburgh. He opens a printing shop. |
