Outlander has been canceled to the shock of many fans. The Starz series ends with the 8th season. But soon you can dive into the world of author Diana Gabaldon again, because a spin-off has been confirmed.
- “Outlander” was already extended for an 8th season in January 2023. However, this will be the series finale.
- At the same time, the spin-off “Blood of my Blood” officially gets the green light from US broadcaster Starz.
It was a shock for all “Outlander” fans: the series has now actually been canceled. But at least US broadcaster Starz is giving us another 8th season before we have to say goodbye to Claire and Jamie Fraser.
Since novelist Diana Gabaldon wants to end the book series with the 10th book, the story of the lovers traveling through time is now probably told. So the series will end before the book series, but of course, depending on how quickly the author writes the book, has the possibility of picking up the novel ending as well.
At the same time, Starz also confirms that the “Outlander” spin-off “Blood of my Blood” is officially greenlit. It is set to take place before Claire and Jamie’s story and will deal with the love story of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
“Outlander” showrunner Matthew B. Roberts will also work on the spinoff. Maril Davis, Ronald D. Moore and Diana Gabaldon herself will be executive producers.
First, however, we can expect an extra-long 7th season, which will include 16 episodes. The episodes are based on the 7th novel in the “Outlander” series and deal with the American Revolution, which has now arrived at the Frasers.
