Of course, we know that “Mission Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 1” has been shot for a long time, but the new trailer for the film still shows daredevil stunts that make you seriously worried about Tom Cruise’s survival.
Cruise is one of the few Hollywood stars who still do their own stunts. This is mainly due to the insurance companies, who don’t like to see actors risking their own lives when there are capable stunt people on set who would actually be much better suited for the task.
But realism pays off, allowing director Christopher McQuarrie to shoot the action scenes in a way that feels particularly intense and involving to the audience. The camera stays close to Cruise, there are no trick cuts here where Cruise is replaced by a stuntman. Everything we see really happened – even if safety precautions were taken, of course.
The trailer now shows Ethan Hunt jumping off a cliff into the depths on a motorcycle – a highlight of the film that was already hinted at on the official poster. After “Top Gun: Maverick” made Tom Cruise the king of the movie summer in 2022, he could earn this title again with “Mission Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 1” in 2023.
By the way, “Mission Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part 2,” the grand finale of the M:I series, should already await us in theaters on June 27, 2024. Since filming on the movie has already been completed, it seems Tom Cruise has actually managed to survive his time as Ethan Hunt – a minor miracle!
