Since 2019, the second season of Kakegurui is available on Netflix. Fans are rightly wondering when more episodes of the anime series will be released.
In Kakegurui, everything revolves around one thing – gambling. As soon as classes are over, Hayakkaou Academy turns into a gambling den. Whoever wins becomes a king, whoever loses becomes a slave. In the second season, which appeared on Netflix in June 2019, the exciting adventure of the student Yumeko Jabami continues.
Kakegurui Season 3: What about the sequel?
Netflix has not yet given the green light to a 3rd season of Kakegurui. The streaming service continues to keep mum about the sequel, but released the spin-off Kakegurui Twin in August 2022, which takes place a year before the action of the main series. Here you can see the trailer:
The main series is based on the manga of the same name by Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura, which has been published since 2014. There is now enough source material in the form of manga volumes. This means that if the creators wanted to produce season 3, they could do so. It is even possible that the project is already in the works.
Kakegurui : Story
Hyakkaou Private Academy is a school for the privileged and influential, playing host to the children of businessmen and politicians. However, unlike other schools, students at Hyakkaou do not pride themselves on academic achievement. Instead, they value strategic prowess and the ability to read people. Come nightfall, many places on campus transform into gambling dens overseen by the student council, where players compete for rank, money, and more.
Ryouta Suzui spends his days as a “house pet” a student ranked in the bottom one hundred, forced to serve his peers. His circumstances soon change when a mysterious new transfer student, Yumeko Jabami, arrives at the academy. Despite Suzui’s warnings, Yumeko quickly becomes immersed in the school’s gambling scene, facing off against several high-profile opponents. Her exploits draw the attention of the student council members, who start meddling in her affairs. Suzui tries his best to keep Yumeko out of trouble, but to his chagrin, she turns out to be the type of person best suited to attend Hyakkaou: a compulsive gambler.
Kakegurui Season 3: Release date
That we don’t have an official announcement yet, the release date of season 3 Kakegurui can only be speculated at the moment. While some fans expected the new episodes already in 2020 due to the previous release rhythm, we have to continue to practice patience according to the current status. In any case, we don’t expect a launch before fall 2023.
If you can’t wait until then, you have the possibility to read the original manga. It’s already much further along with the story. Season 2 ends with the tenth volume.
