Oh, John Wick 5 – to be or not to be? That is the question. But with the smashing success of Chapter 4, it’s starting to seem like a foregone conclusion.
The plan was originally to shoot the fourth and fifth films back-to-back, but things didn’t quite pan out that way. And after Chapter 4’s conclusion, it seemed like that was it for Mr. Wick. But then the movie shattered box office records, and now Lionsgate’s top dog, Joe Drake, has hinted that a fifth film could be in the works.
Of course, there’s a lot to consider. The ending of Chapter 4 leaves plenty of room for interpretation, and the last thing anyone wants is to mess with the audience. But if anyone can pull it off, it’s Keanu and director Chad Stahelski.
Whether or not we actually need another John Wick movie is a matter of debate. But the fact is, it could happen. So let’s dive into everything we know so far about the possibility of John Wick 5.
Will there be a John Wick 5?
Hold on to your horses, folks, because the fate of John Wick 5 is still up in the air – and it’s not just because of the shenanigans that went down in Chapter 4.
You see, every John Wick sequel has only come to be because the brains behind the operation, Stahelski and Reeves, had a darn good reason for its existence. These brainstorming sessions usually happen when the movie premieres in Japan, three months after its US release. Keanu and Stahelski take the long trip to Tokyo, sit in the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar, and let the creative juices flow – all while sipping on 20-year-old whiskies and scribbling down ideas on napkins. If those ideas stick, well, maybe we’ll get a new movie, Stahelski told The Hollywood Reporter.
But, as Stahelski has been open about, the ending of Chapter 4 leaves some ambiguity in the air. So, while Wick’s return is not off the table, they’re currently viewing it as a grand finale, according to Reeves.
That being said, Keanu is not one to say never. “I guess I’m going to have to lean on never say never,” he told EW. “I mean, I wouldn’t do a John Wick film without Chad Stahelski. We’d have to see what that looked like. For me, it feels really right that John Wick finds peace.”
So, it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what the future holds for our favorite hitman. In the meantime, let’s raise a glass of 20-year-old whisky to John Wick’s peace – or his inevitable return, who knows.

The Rumored New Spin-off: Rina vs. Caine?
According to Erica Lee, a producer from the John Wick circles, a new spin-off is set to be announced in the next two months. And the speculation is running wild. Will it be a film about Akira, Caine, or the ultimate showdown of Akira vs. Caine? The possibilities are endless, but let’s be honest, we all know which one we want to see.
In the post-credit scene of John Wick 4, we witnessed the epic confrontation between Akira (played by Rina Sawayama) and Caine (the legendary Donnie Yen). These two badasses have a bone to pick, and it’s not a chicken wing. Caine killed Akira’s father, and revenge is on the menu.
But wait, there’s more. The John Wick series has built a dense mythology around what should be a simple hitman plot. It’s like trying to unravel a ball of yarn that your cat has been playing with for hours. Even if Keanu Reeves decides to step down at some point (he wouldn’t dare), the universe could still continue. The possibilities are endless, and the fans are salivating.
Possible Release Date for Rina vs. Caine: Late 2025 or early 2026
So, hold on to your seats and your popcorn, because the John Wick universe is expanding faster than the universe itself, and it’s not showing any signs of slowing down.
