The new Hulu and BBC series “Great Expectations” adapts the literary classic by Charles Dickens and will appear on the US streamer in March 2023. The series will be available on Disney+. Great Expectations: Start date
The new Dickens adaptation will premiere on the US streaming service Hulu on March 26, 2023 with two episodes at once. Internationally, the series will also be available on Disney+ at a later date.

Great Expectations: Storyline
“Great Expectations” is the coming-of-age story of Pip, an orphan boy who longs for a greater purpose in life. Then, when he finds himself entangled in the evil machinations of the mysterious and very eccentric Miss Havisham, his previous destiny takes a rapid turn.
Now the boy finds himself in a dark world that holds unexpected possibilities for him. But with these possibilities come great expectations and everything has its price. Pip must finally decide for himself whether this world is worth leaving all principles behind and whether he really wants to be the man this world requires.

“Peaky Blinders” creator Knight serves as writer and executive producer alongside Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott, Dean Baker, David W. Zucker and Kate Crowe. Brady Hood and Samira Radsi serve as directors. “Great Expectations” is produced by FX Productions in association with the BBC, Scott Free and Hardy Son & Baker.’
The leading role of the character Pip will be played by actor Fionn Whitehead (“Dunkirk,” “Black Mirror”). Furthermore, Oscar winner Olivia Colman (“Broadchurch”, “The Crown”) can be seen in the role of the eccentric Miss Havisham.
Other roles include Shalom Brune-Franklin, Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle, Laurie Ogden, Rudi Dharmalingam, Tom Sweet, Chloe Lea and Matt Berry. “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight is not only on board as screenwriter, but is executive producing along with movie star Tom Hardy (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Taboo”) and director Ridley Scott (“Alien,” “Blade Runner”).

In 2012, a British film adaptation of the novel “Great Expectations” was released. Director Mike Newell and screenwriter David Nicholls stick closely to the novel in their 2012 adaptation. Ralph Fiennes, Jeremy Irvine, Helena Bonham Carter and Robbie Coltrane shine in the leading roles.
