The Netflix series “Bridgerton” could show the love story of Eloise Bridgerton much earlier than in the book. However, that would result in big changes. Does Bridgerton season 4 really show Eloise’s love story?
- The third season of the Netflix series “Bridgerton” will tell the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.
- In the book, however, Colin’s older brother Benedict actually finds his partner for life first.
- This massive change could have an impact on Eloise Bridgerton’s story and mean that she will fall in love a season earlier than planned.
The “Bridgerton” book series follows the love stories of the eight Bridgerton siblings, Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth, in eight volumes. When Netflix announced that the upcoming third season of their series will be about Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, they made a big change to the novel. This could have implications for the story of Eloise Bridgerton.
For now, the first two seasons of the romantic series “Bridgerton” still adhere to the correct order of the books. Thus, the first season is about the love story of the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). They will be followed in the second season by the story of Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
Next up would be artistic free spirit Benedict’s (Luke Thompson) turn to get hitched. But Netflix is taking a different approach. “Bridgerton” showrunner Chris Van Dusen decided to tell the love story of childhood friends Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Caughlan) next.
The decision doesn’t come as a complete surprise. For example, Colin and Penelope took on a much more supporting role in the first two seasons and were clearly more present than Colin’s older brother Benedict. For this reason, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) could also find love before her big brother.
Actually, Eloise’s love story isn’t told until the fifth book, and thus not really until season 5 of “Bridgerton.” As Penelope’s best friend and the only one privy to her secret, Eloise has the best qualifications to play an important role in the third season.
This could also move her further up the season order. So it would be quite possible that Eloise will not play the main character in the fifth season, but already in the fourth. This is also supported by the fact that she already had her first romantic experiences with the bourgeois Theo Sharpe (Calam Lynch) in the second season. This plot did not exist in the books.
Bridgerton Season 4: What does this mean for Eloise’s love story?
At first, Eloise is not at all interested in falling in love, let alone finding a man. That only changes when she meets Sir Philip Crane. In the series, things are a little different. Here, Eloise meets a young man as early as the second season who catches her interest.
Through Theo, Eloise is less dismissive of love and slowly dares to open her heart. Which, as we know, unfortunately doesn’t last. But this experience could well be groundbreaking in initiating Eloise’s love story. However, if her story were preferred just like Colin’s and Penelope’s, a crucial plot would be omitted.
In the books, Benedict Bridgerton finds his partner for life before his siblings Colin and Eloise. This is important to his little sister’s love story.
Benedict and his wife Sophie Beckett help Eloise open up about her feelings towards Philip. They support her and stand by her side. If Eloise’s love story were to be brought forward in the series, then this storyline would be omitted because Benedict would not even know Sophie yet.
This would take away the chance for the two siblings to solidify their relationship with each other. Benedict and Eloise are inseparable in “Bridgerton” because they are both headstrong and go against society. They get along well and probably have the closest relationship of all the Bridgerton siblings.
So if the producers of “Bridgerton” plan to tell Elosie’s story before Benedict’s, the Netflix series would have to show sensitivity. Nevertheless, it can’t be ruled out.
First, however, is the love story of Colin and Penelope. This will be told in the spring of 2023. In May 2023, the long-awaited spin-off “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” will start on Netflix. The prequel shows the great love story between the young Queen Charlotte and King George and shows the beginning of the great romance.
