Blade (2024): Production and Cast
At Comic-Con 2019, producer and president of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige announced that Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (“Moonlight,” “True Detective”) will be part of the MCU as the new Blade, breathing life into the character once again after Wesley Snipes.
Furthermore, we will see the actors Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre in previously unknown roles. While Lindo is known among other things from the series “The Good Fight”, the British actor Aaron Pierre played in the Amazon series “The Underground Railroad” and is to speak in an upcoming Disney production (“Mufasa: The Lion King”) the voice of Mufasa.
Brand new, it has now also been confirmed that the currently most famous face of the horror film genre, actress Mia Goth, will also be part of the cast. Goth recently celebrated successes with horror films such as “X”, “Pearl” or the satire shocker “Infinity Pool”. There is also no further information about her role yet.
Behind the scenes of the film, however, things have not been very harmonious lately. It was actually planned that Bassam Tariq would direct the project. However, he cancelled shortly before the start of shooting. Tariq was finally replaced by Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”).
The change of director had already caused considerable delays in production, but when the script was also found to be inadequate, the film’s start date was pushed back almost a whole year. With a new script by Michael Starrbury, Kevin Feige-produced film is set to finally launch in the fall of 2024.
