The wacky Marvel series What If…? is getting a second season. Find out when you can stream the new episodes on Disney+ and what happens next here.
In August of last year, a new, wacky Marvel series launched, which – as the name suggests – brings us closer to selected “What if” scenarios from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Peggy Carter benefits from the super soldier serum, Captain America becomes a zombie and T’Challa becomes the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Those who can’t get enough of such stories have reason to rejoice: “Marvel’s What If…?” is definitely going into renewal. Confidence in the series is high, as work on What If…? Season 2 already began long before the series launch.

What If…? Season 2: Delayed – When and how does it continue?

As if the movie multiverse wasn’t enough, the animated series “What If…?” also shows us alternative scenarios and turning points in the MCU. As originally planned for season 1, we can expect ten or eleven new, largely self-contained episodes that completely turn what has happened so far on its head.
Since the first season had to be shortened by one episode due to corona, we assume that What If…? Season 2 will bring us the already leaked Tony Stark episode, in which he becomes a gladiator on Sakaar. In addition, it has already been hinted that the Hydra stomper will play a role again. The battlesuit as well as its wearer, Steve Rogers, might have fallen into Hydra’s hands. If Rogers has been similarly brainwashed as Bucky once was, we assume a clash between Rogers and Captain Carter. What If…? Season 2 will also delve deeper into the Guardians of the Multiverse. We can also expect new stories with the protagonists from Phase 4 of the MCU, so there will be a reunion with Shang-Chi, the Eternals and Hela.
Since the production and animation of the individual episodes is quite complex and time-consuming, the break between the first two seasons is relatively long. Originally scheduled to start at the end of 2022, it was announced at San Diego Comic Con that the new episodes “What If…?” will be even later and will not be released until 2023 (via The Direct).
What If…? Season 2: Who’s in?
The animated series remains true to itself and so once again Jeffrey Wright will lead through the episodes as The Watcher. We assume that numerous other MCU stars will also be available for the second season and lend their voices to the associated characters. In addition to Chris Hemsworth, we will probably also hear Hollywood greats like Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman and Zoe Saldana.
