Orlando Bloom celebrated his breakthrough with his role as Legolas in the “Lord of the Rings” films. The actor has told us what he thinks of “The Rings of Power.

Last year, the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” was released on Amazon. The series adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s works takes place thousands of years before “The Lord of the Rings” and has caused mixed reactions among fans. While some have returned to Middle Earth full of joy, others have criticized the series for not being faithful to Tolkien’s vision.

Orlando Bloom, who played Legolas in the Lord of the Rings films, is on the side of the fans who have perceived the series positively, as he told RadioTimes.com. In particular, he praises the courage of those responsible for taking on such a huge task:

“I missed Tolkien. I’ve missed Tolkien’s spirit, his world and his vision – and I think they’ve just returned to Tolkien’s world. I think that’s very brave. It’s not easy to dedicate yourself to another version of something that’s been such an impressive success, but I think it was really admirable: the casting, the story, and how they approached the world… I look forward to more of that.”

Orlando Bloom is not alone in his praise

Bloom goes on to say that Peter Jackson has, of course, delivered impressive films, but that he thinks it’s great to see other aspects of the characters and world:

“Peter obviously did an incredible job with ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ and we got to play these great characters. But they kind of went back and said, ‘Look, these characters still exist in this world and we can show you other aspects of them.’ I was like, ‘Cool, I’m in!'”

The Legolas actor is not the first star of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy to speak out about Amazon’s series. Pippin actor Billy Boyd also liked “The Rings of Power” and was especially excited to see the familiar and new locations in Middle Earth. On the other hand, Bernard Hill, who plays King Théoden of Rohan, criticized Amazon’s greed for profit and the series’ lack of soul.
