“You: You Will Love Me” is getting a 5th season from Netflix. But at the same time, the new episodes will be the series finale. This is what is known so far for You season 5.
- Netflix extends “You – You will love me” for a 5th season.
- However, this will mark the end of the series – season 5 is the finale of “You”.
- In it, Joe returns to New York.
Joe Goldberg has to dust off his baseball cap once again, because “You – You Will Love Me” has been renewed by Netflix for a 5th season. But this is the last time that Penn Badgley will slip into the role of the disturbed psycho killer, because You season 5 also represents the grand series finale.
Season 4 ended with Joe Goldberg returning to New York along with his latest obsession, Kate. Joe uses his girlfriend’s press expertise to bring “the truth” to light – at least the part he would have liked to reveal.
So his ex-wife Love Quinn now stands publicly as a killer, while he profits from the story under his real name. All this while framing his former student Nadia for his murders in London.
You Season 5 also brings some changes behind the scenes of the series. For instance, previous showrunner Sera Gamble is stepping down from her post. Instead, previous executive producers (EP) Michael Foley and Justin W. Lo will take over her position for the finale. Gamble, however, will remain with the series as EP.
Season 5 is slated for a 2024 release on Netflix. The streaming service bought up the rights to the series after U.S. broadcaster Lifetime wanted to cancel the series. So since season 2, the series has been a Netflix original.
