Troppo is a crime drama series that follows the adventures of detective Ted Conkaffey, who is accused of a brutal crime he didn’t commit. He escapes to the tropical town of Crimson Lake, where he teams up with private investigator Amanda Pharrell to solve local mysteries. The first season of Troppo, based on the novel by Candice Fox, premiered on ABC in 2021 and received positive reviews from critics and audiences. Here’s everything we know so far about the second season of Troppo.

Troppo Season 2 Plot: What’s next?

Troppo Season 2 Plot

The first season of Troppo ended with a bang, literally. Ted Conkaffey (Thomas Jane), the disgraced ex-cop who was falsely accused of a disturbing crime, and Amanda Pharrell (Nicole Chamoun), the eccentric private investigator with a criminal record, managed to solve the case of the missing Korean family man and computer pioneer, Yoon Sun (Sun Park). But their victory was short-lived, as they found themselves in the middle of a shootout between Twist (Ling Cooper Tang), the ruthless drug lord who was behind Yoon Sun’s disappearance, and Bryce (Damien Garvey), the corrupt cop who was working for him.

The last scene showed Ted and Amanda running for cover as bullets flew around them. Did they make it out alive? Who else survived the carnage? And what will happen to Twist and Bryce? These are some of the questions that Troppo Season 2 will have to answer. We can expect more action, suspense, and mystery as Ted and Amanda take on new cases in the wilds of Far North Queensland. And maybe, just maybe, some romance between them as well.

Troppo Season 2 Cast: Who’s in it?

Troppo Season 2 Cast

Assuming that Ted and Amanda survived the shootout (which we really hope they did), we can expect Thomas Jane and Nicole Chamoun to reprise their roles as the lead characters. They are joined by David Lyons as Damford, Sun Park as Yoon Sun, Ling Cooper Tang as Hench, Wendy P. Mocke as Maali, Yerin Ha as Ah Rah, Kate Beahan as Olivia, Thomas Weatherall as Charlie, Chenoa Deemal as Budd, Lucas Linehan as Milbee, Angela Punch McGregor as Dr. Val, Damien Garvey as Roy, Peta Wilson as Eve, Miranda Frangou as Georgie, Chris Alosio as Jayjay, Sara West as Brooke, and Cramer Cain as Wayne.

Of course, some of these characters may not return for Season 2 due to their fate in Season 1. And we can also expect some new faces to join the cast as new allies or enemies for Ted and Amanda.

Will there be Troppo Season 2?

The fate of Troppo Season 2 is still unknown, though, because the show’s makers have not yet said whether or not it will be renewed. Even though the wait is hard, we have to be patient until we hear something official. But don’t worry; there’s a good chance that loyal fans will hear good news by the end of the year.

According to Thomas Jane himself, who confirmed to Small Screen that Season 2 is indeed happening, they have a writers’ room working on the second season as we speak. He also said that he loved working on Troppo and that he was looking forward to returning to Australia for filming.

Troppo Season 2 Release Date: Speculation!

Since Troppo Season 2 has not been officially announced yet (except by Thomas Jane), we don’t have an exact release date for it. But we can make some educated guesses based on the previous season’s schedule and production timeline.

The first season of Troppo premiered on ABC TV in February 2022, and then on Amazon Freevee on May 20. It consisted of eight episodes that were filmed in Queensland from October to December 2021. If we assume that Season 2 will follow a similar pattern, we can expect it to start filming sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. That means that Troppo Season 2 could premiere on ABC TV in mid or late 2024, and then on Amazon Freevee a few months later.

Of course, this is just speculation, and there could be delays or changes due to various factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the availability of the cast and crew, or the creative direction of the show. So don’t take this as gospel, but rather as a hopeful estimate.

Troppo Season 2 Trailer: Is there a teaser?

Unfortunately, there is no trailer or teaser for Troppo Season 2 yet. And we don’t expect to see one anytime soon, since the show has not been officially renewed or started filming. But we will keep an eye out for any updates or sneak peeks that might come our way in the future. And as soon as we get our hands on a trailer or teaser, we will share it with you right here.
