The crime series “The Residence” tells of a murder case that takes place in probably the most famous mansion in the world: The White House. With Uzo Aduba (“Orange is the New Black”)” the Netflix production by Shonda Rhimes now has its first leading actress.

With “The Residence,” successful producer Shonda Rhimes is bringing the novel of the same name by Kate Andersen Brower to Netflix. The crime drama is about a murder that takes place in the White House. Now a whole series of other actors and actresses have been announced who will be appearing in the series alongside lead actress Uzo Aduba.

The Residence: Start Date

It is not yet known when the first season of “The Residence” will be released on Netflix. However, we do not expect a release before 2024.

“The Residence” is about a criminal case that takes place “upstairs, downstairs and backstairs” of the White House. Detective Cordelia Cupp tries to solve this case amidst the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.

The Residence: Cast

Emmy-winning and multi-award-winning actress Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”) has already been cast in the lead role of Detective Cordelia Cupp. She is the consultant of the Metropolitan Police Department and an astute observer.

Brand new, 11 more new cast members have now been announced in one fell swoop and this list is extremely promising. We have listed for you below the names of all the new cast members at a glance:

  • Bronson Pinchot (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”)
  • Isiah Whitlock Jr. (“Your Honor”)
  • Mary Wiseman (“Star Trek: Discovery“)

Susan Kelechi Watson will portray Jasmine Haney, a young and aspiring White House assistant to the Usher. Andre Braugher, on the other hand, will play White House chief Usher. A.B. Wynter, will play. Jason Lee we get to see in the role of Tripp Morgan, the younger and somewhat unconventional brother of President Perry Morgan.

Ken Marino will mime Harry Hollinger, President Perry Morgan’s oldest friend, closest advisor and most trusted confidant. Edwina Findley will play Sheila Cannon, the White House butler. Further, Molly Griggs will take on the part of Lilly Schumacher, President Morgan’s social secretary, and Al Mitchell will embody Rollie Bridgewater, the chief butler.

The role of Colin Trask, head of the Secret Service’s Presidential Unit, will be played by Dan Perrault. Bronson Pinchot will play the character of Didier Gotthard, the White House chief pastry chef. The chief of police of the Metropolitan Police Department, named Larry Dokes, will be embodied by Isiah Whitlock Jr. And then Mary Wiseman will portray Marvella, the White House chef.

The Residence: Production

“The Residence” is based on the novel “The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House” by author Kate Andersen Brower. The first half of the series is to be directed by Liza Johnson (“The Last of Us”), with showrunner Paul William Davies (“Scandal”), Shonda Rhimes (“Grey’s Anatomy”) and Betsy Beers (“Bridgerton”) serving as executive producers. “The Residence” is produced by Shondaland for the streaming service Netflix.
