Squid Game season 2 has been given the green light by Netflix. But the brutal games have not yet started and so we wait in vain for new episodes. That is to change soon.
- The Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” is getting a second season.
- Filming is scheduled to start in the summer of 2023.
- But we’ll have to wait many months until we see the new episodes.
“Red light, green light, red light, green light”. Soon, the promising and equally eerie nursery rhyme of the successful Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” will sound again on every corner.
But so far, the players are standing still and haven’t moved to entertain us with a 2nd season of the drama. That’s about to change, as lead actor Lee Jung-jae reveals. In an interview with the magazine “allkpop”, the actor announces the start of the brutal Squid Game, which will once again keep Korea in suspense.
The shooting of “Squid Game 2” will begin in the summer and will last about 10 months. We worked on season 1 for about 10 months, but that was with delays caused by COVID-19. Since Squid Game Season 2 will have a larger scope, it will probably take longer to finish.
So the games are finally going ahead this year. One downer remains, however, because with filming lasting almost a year, the second season of “Squid Game” can’t be expected until fall 2024.
Lee Jung-jae gives us more to go on than just the start of filming, though. The Emmy winner also gives us a little insight into the plot that awaits us in the new episodes.
For example, his character Seong Gi-hun and the front man of the games (played by Lee Byung-hun) are the central players in the story in Squid Game Season 2. The focus is on revenge against all those involved who made the brutal and bloody Squid Game possible in the first place. However, Lee does not reveal whether we can expect new games in the new episodes.
The first season “Squid Game” started in the fall of 2021 on Netflix. The series became a worldwide phenomenon and was so successful that a reality show about the brutal games was announced for 2023. There are supposed to be no deaths here, but even so, “Squid Game: The Challenge” is anything but a piece of cake.
