Sisi” is returning to RTL+ with a 3rd season. The streaming service now announced the start of filming. Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann will return in the lead roles in the new episodes.

  • The event series “Sisi” will also return to the streaming service RTL+ in 2023 with a six-part 3rd season.
  • For the new season, the old cast will return to the set, but newcomers will also be seen alongside the empress.
  • In the new episodes, we follow Sisi’s ordeal at the imperial court.

The event series “Sisi” will officially return to the streaming service RTL+ with a 3rd season. Filming on the sequel has recently started and the new episodes are scheduled to be released before the end of 2023. Dominique Devenport and Jannik Schümann will once again be seen in the leading roles of Sisi and Franz. We have summarized everything important about the 3rd part of the series epic for you below.

Sisi Season 3: Release Date

The epic series about the famous empress has now officially received the green light for a 3rd season. However, streaming service RTL+ is still holding back with an official start date for the new episodes. However, it is certain that the new episodes will still be shown on RTL+ and RTL in 2023.

Sisi Season 3: Storyline

Not too much is known about the plot of the new season yet either. The official season description says that Sisi and Franz’s love will be severely tested in the upcoming episodes.

Power struggles in Europe, labor unrest in Vienna and the conflict over the education of their heir to the throne, Rudolf, push the couple to their limits. In addition, Sisi herself faces a crucial test. How can she fulfill her obligations at court and fight for her own family, while at the same time not giving up on herself and finally burying her longing for adventure?

Sisi Season 3: Cast and Production

In season 2, we will again see Dominique Devenport (“The Passport Forger”) as Sisi and Jannik Schümann (“Charitè”) as Franz.

Also “Bad Banks” actress Désirée Nosbusch as Franz’s mother, Archduchess Sophie, Tanja Schleiff (“In aller Freundschaft”) as Countess Esterhazy and Marcus Grüsser (“SOKO München”) as Sisi’s father, Duke Max in Bavaria, as well as David Korbmann (“Notruf Hafenkante”) as Count Grünne will be back in front of the camera.

Likewise, Bernd Hölscher (“Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Felix Krull”) will again play the role of Otto von Bismarck, the Prussian prime minister, chancellor of the North German Confederation and, from 1871, chancellor of the German Empire, and Marie Sophie von Reibnitz will play the role of Eugénie, while Boris Aljinovic will embody Napoleon III.

A few new faces will also join the cast in the upcoming season. You will see Arian Wegener as Crown Prince Rudolf. Also brand new will be Deniz Orta (“Dogs of Berlin”) as Sisi’s companion Alma, Jakob Geßner as Albert, the leader of the workers’ movement, and Daniel Friedrich as Archduke Franz Karl, Franz’s father. Pauline Werner and Max Hubacher, on the other hand, will appear as Walli and Gustav, a romantic pair of crooks.

Producers of Season 3 are Jens Freels and Andreas Gutzeit, who also serves as showrunner. The scripts were written by Elena Hell and Robert Krause. Filming will take place in Croatia, Riga, Vilnius and surrounding areas until August 2023.

Since the filming of the 3rd season of the series has just started, there is no video or image material for the upcoming episodes yet. As soon as something changes, we will of course keep you up to date.
