A large number of sitcoms delight us with chaotic families in which crazy characters clash. This already worked in the 80s and 90s when the Tanners in “Full House” provided the best entertainment. In 2016, Netflix enabled the revival of the cult series in the form of “Fuller House” and fans celebrated the return of the Tanners accordingly. Nevertheless, the chances of another season of “Fuller House” seem slim.
What about Fuller House Season 6?
The cult series “Full House” was produced by the American TV station ABC from 1987 to 1995 and enjoyed great success. So it’s no wonder that Netflix caused a big stir in 2016 with the broadcast of the sequel “Fuller House.” After four and a half successful seasons, the second part of the fifth season has now appeared on Netflix on June 2, 2020. However, the streaming provider already announced with the extension of the fifth season that it would also be the last. So, unfortunately, we can’t give you any hope for new episodes of “Fuller House” (Fuller House Season 6) at this point.
One of the reasons for the end of the series could be the declining viewer numbers. As Jumpshot points out, from season one to season two about half of the viewers dropped out and from season three to season four another 10%. However, a loyal fan base remained and certainly didn’t want to see the series end. The same happened to leading actress Candace Cameron Bure, who emphasized that it was her wish to shoot at least six seasons of “Fuller House”. In her opinion, there would still be some stories around the Tanners that needed to be told. But who knows what will happen in the future. “Fuller House” in particular is the best example of how series can make a great comeback even after a long time.
But even without new stories from the Tanners, you don’t have to be bored. In “The Middle” on Amazon Prime, you can follow the equally crazy Heck family in their everyday lives. Otherwise, try “Arrested Development” on Netflix.
Fuller House Plot and Background
In the sequel to the cult sitcom from the 1990s “Full House”, well-known characters return. D.J. Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure) is now a veterinarian, recently widowed and a mother of three boys – 12-year-old Jackson (Michael Campion), 7-year-old Max (Elias Harger) and newborn Tommy Jr. (Messitt Twins). When the small family moves into a house in San Francisco, D.J.’s little sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin), who aspires to a career as a musician, joins them, as well as her longtime best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) and her rebellious teenage daughter Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas). The colorful patchwork family experiences many funny hours, which are characterized by everyday madness but also the joys of family life. The three mothers father Danny (Bob Saget), Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) and Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) help them.
Background to the series
The Netflix original premiered in February 2016. The screenplay was written by Jeff Franclin, who produced the original “Full House”. For the sequel, they were able to win over a large part of the old line-up except for the Olsen Twins.
