The supernatural thriller “The Rig – Attack from the Deep” launched on Amazon Prime Video in January 2023. Barely a month later, the successful British series has now been extended for a 2nd season. This time it will be even more dangerous.
The Rig Season 2: Start
So far, no start date for the 2nd season “The Rig – Attack from the Deep” has been announced. However, the new episodes are scheduled to be filmed this year. We therefore assume that we can expect the 2nd season in the first half of 2024.
The Rig Season 2: Storyline
In the first season “The Rig – Attack from the Deep”, the crew of the Kinloch Bravo oil rig is held by a dense fog. In the 2nd season of the series, they manage to escape by helicopter. But even in their supposed refuge, dangers lurk. Thus, the surviving crew must deal with conspiracies, conflicts and new threats from the depths of the oceans.
The Rig Season 2: Casting
Returning in their roles for “The Rig – Attack from the Deep” Season 2 will be Martin Compston as Fulmer (“Line of Duty”), Iain Glen as Magnus (“Game of Thrones”) and Emily Hampshire as Rose (“Schitt’s Creek”).
Returning cast members also include Rochenda Sandall as Cat (“Doctor Who”), Owen Teale as Hutton (“A Discovery of Witches”), Mark Addy as Coake (“Game of Thrones”), Molly Vevers as Heather (“War Gamers – Heroines of the Royal Navy”), Abraham Popoola as Easter (“Andor”) and Stuart McQuarrie as Murchison (“Murder on Shetland”).
The Rig Season 2: Production
The idea for “The Rig – Attack from the Deep” was penned by David Macpherson. The series is directed by John Strickland (“Line of Duty”) for Amazon Studios. Filming will take place at the famous First Stage Studios, where the Netflix film “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Firte Saga” was shot. Also involved in the series are Derek Wax (“Humans”), Suzanne Reid (“Peaky Blinders”) and Matt Brown (“Not Safe for Work”).
