Halloween is just around the corner – and fans of horror and creepiness can look forward to many new horror films and series again this year, such as Horror Master Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities (starting October 25 on Netflix).
With all the abundance of promising productions (mainly for adults), one new Netflix series has initially received little attention: The Midnight Club.
The dark horror series has been available on the streaming service since October 7, 2022, and is aimed primarily at a teenage audience, which does not detract from its surprising success.
This is undoubtedly due to series creator Mike Flanagan, who most recently delivered successful horror series Haunted Hill House, Haunted Bly Manor, and most recently Midnight Mass on Netflix.
In the meantime, the highly acclaimed insider tip has developed into a new series hit, which immediately conquered the top 10 of the best Netflix series of the week in more than 35 countries.
What is The Midnight Club about?
“The Midnight Club” is based on a series of young people’s books with scary stories by Christopher Pike and has the fitting original title “The Midnight Club”. For the series is about the aforementioned Midnight Club at the Brightcliffe Home, a hospice for terminally ill teenagers. A group of teenagers always meet at midnight in the home’s library to scare each other with scary stories.
One night, they close with the words, “To those before us and those after us. To us in the now and to those in the hereafter” a pact. The pact states that the one of them who dies first will do everything in his power to contact the others from the afterlife – with unexpected consequences. For when one of them dies, the rest are haunted by bizarre and sinister events that take place beyond good and evil….

Will there be a The Midnight Club season 2?
The first season leaves viewers with some unanswered questions, making it clear that there will be a sequel – at least that’s the plan of series creator Mike Flanagan. So far, no The Midnight Club 2nd season has been officially confirmed by Netflix, but that should only be a matter of time given the many positive reviews.
“We haven’t answered some of the most important questions of the season. Those answers exist, but they’re for next season. If there aren’t any, I’ll post them on Twitter, and then at least we can all talk about it,” Flanagan says, in case there’s not a sequel against expectations.
