Meg 2 – The Trench: Storyline
Jonas Taylor and his partner want to lead a research team on a risky exploration dive into the deepest depths of the ocean. However, their plans are thwarted when a mining corporation pursues its own agenda. Jonas and his crew find themselves in a race against time and are confronted with several gigantic megs at once. A fight for survival begins.

The main role of the courageous Jonas Taylor is once again played by “Fast & Furious” actor Jason Statham. He is joined in front of the camera by Shuya Sophia Cai as Meiying Zhang, Page Kennedy (“The Upshaws”) as DJ, Wu Jing and Cliff Curtis (“True Spirit”) as James Mackreides. Also joining the cast are Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Skyler Samuels (“Scream Queens”) and Sienna Guillory (“Luther”).

Producers of the sequel include Belle Avery and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Ben Wheatley serves as executive director. The screenplay was written by Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber and Dean Georgaris.
