- The science fiction epic has already set the box office ringing with the third-highest box office in cinema history.
- The film stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver.
It took “Titanic” director James Cameron 13 years to continue his 3D revolution “Avatar” (11 things from Avatar). When part 2 called “The Way Of Water” hit theaters in December 2022, Cameron actually managed to build on the gigantic success of his 2009 debut. Although “Departure to Pandora” still leads the list of the most successful films of all time, “The Way Of Water” has settled stably in third place.
Streaming Premiere on Disney+
After this huge box office success and various Oscar nominations, including “Best Picture,” the streaming premiere of “Avatar: The Way Of Water” is finally being heralded. From June 7, the 193-minute science fiction epic will be available for viewing on Disney+. Now stars like Sam Worthington (“Hacksaw Ridge”), Zoe Saldana (“Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3”) and Sigourney Weaver (“Alien”) can also be seen on home screens.
The Way Of Water carries on the old conflict
In the second “Avatar” film, more than a decade has passed for the Sully family in equal measure since Part 1. Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) have since had children and are seeking their fortune with an ocean tribe of Na’vi. But a familiar adversary (Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch) also re-emerges on the scene to threaten Pandora. Of course, all of this can be admired in breathtakingly detailed technology.
